Design system and product screens
Equineli is a horse platform. A ranch owner started it because he was doing all of it himself, buying horses and finding the right people to train and care for them. In 2023 I built its design system and product screens, working beside the engineer who was coding it.
A horse show in June
Equineli started in 2021, built by an engineer I had worked with for years on client projects. In 2023 the owner brought me in to take the design side, and he wanted it in front of a test group at a horse show that June. The product was already live and taking signups, so nothing could come down to be rebuilt.
A system he could build that week
The foundation came first. Color ramps built out from the logo they already had, a type scale, buttons in every state, inputs, badges, and navigation patterns. Every component mapped to Bootstrap on purpose, so what I drew in Figma was what he could build that week.
Then the product itself. Horse profiles with records and nutrition, listings for equine services with ratings and messaging, and the mobile layouts, all prototyped in Figma. We planned the push to the show together, and the new screens were live by mid-June, ahead of it. The landing page became part of the job too, and I stayed on through the demo that August.
The last week was the handover: the system, the components, the page templates, and the screens made on them.
Every template got a phone layout
Filters and menus folded into trays, and the two layouts shipped together rather than one chasing the other. The forms are where that costs the most: the same fields, in one column on a phone and across the width on desktop.
